BEYOND SURFACE10/2022–11/2022EDITORIAL DESIGNBeyond Surface is an editorial publication project focused on mastering the technical skills of typesetting for print. The project involved organizing five distinct stories into a cohesive formal type system within a single book. Each story required careful consideration of typographic hierarchy, including body text, footnotes, images, titles, subtitles, and author names. Through this process, Beyond Surface explores the balance between structured hierarchy and readability in publication design.

Anticipating the transition from digital layout to physical print was essential—recognizing how factors like paper texture, ink absorption, and binding could impact the final appearance. Designing in InDesign made it challenging to fully envision the printed result, requiring adjustments to ensure clarity and consistency in the final book.
